Other Art: Still lifes

 

My new stillife paintings are a wonderful new ‘side line’ that happened quite unplanned this year. I have always been so busy with wildlife that there was/is very little time to try new things or subjects. In June 2018 I exhibited at a small local show and because of the theme I was asked to kindly paint a few avocados (of all things!). When that came out beautifully, I tried King Proteas (which is also our national flower) & then lemons etc etc.

The fact that I do the whole setting up & photoshoot of the original idea/concept here in my studio, adds to the whole ‘creative process’ and I am really part of it all – from the original idea to the finished painting.

I’m loving every minute of it!
